CVO-Workshop: accident prevention for corporate fleets

2The Workshop “accident prevention for corporate fleets” from CVO Germany took place on June 28th in Munich. Technical, human and financial factors were discussed in context with accident prevention in a circle of fleet experts. The specialized referees from the Association of German Insurers, a German auto club and a big insurance company introduced their approaches:

- Dr.-Ing. Mathias Kühn, Verkehrstechnisches Institut der Deutschen Versicherer: Evaluation of chosen safety systems by means of accident research
- Dipl.-Ing. Nikolaus Dezasse, ADAC Südbayern e.V.: Lighting up the human factor: accident development, accident cause and accident prevention
- Achim Welter, DBV-Winterthur: Usage Based Insurance

In connection with the informative and interesting presentations a lively discussion moderated by Vincent Rupied, chairman of CVO Germany aroused. Central result was that accident prevention regarding to corporate fleets is an important matter. But although many companies are aware of this matter and most of the cars dispose of safety features, instruments like analysis of road risks are still not very well known. Most of the attendant companies have travel policies which regulate the adherence of rest periods or other methods that prevent road risks. The realisation of such policies seems to be crucial because the individual implementation of travel policies is very difficult to control.

Concerning the vehicle's equipment all attendants agreed that safety systems would be one of the most important 3investments in employees and thus for the whole enterprise.

The potential risks of telephony while driving - even with hands free set- are obviously realised by the attendant companies. However actions are not taken in the companies. It is obvious that corporate vehicles become more and more to mobile offices.
